Businesses that integrate enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are largely content with the functionality of their platforms, new research has revealed.
A study by Panorama Consulting Group showed 72 per cent of organisations are at least ‘fairly satisfied’ with the way their software handles operations.
This included 18.9 per cent of firms that were ‘very satisfied’, although president of the organisation Eric Kimberling implied corporations could raise their productivity even further if they made small amendments to their processes.
He remarked: "The fact that most companies are initially satisfied with their ERP selection, but then fail to realise more than half of the expected benefits indicates widespread underutilisation of the capabilities of these packages."
Mr Kimberling added that regardless of how efficient ERP systems are, firms need to back this up with management support and sufficient end-user training once an implementation has been complete.
In December, president of LMA Consulting Group Lisa Anderson stated that most businesses fail to leverage more than 20 per cent of their program’s capacity.
