Accounting and financial software can help to maximise the efficiency of industry professionals by automating key business processes.

That is the opinion of Gary Waylett, chief executive officer of hardware supplier Eclipse Computing, who stated that platforms targeting these matters - which could include SAP Business One - can drastically improve a company's abilities to streamline its functions.

He asked: "How much time do accountants spend re-keying, reconciling data and tracking erroneous positions? The use of automation reduces manual tasks and enables accountants to focus on business-led issues."

According to Mr Waylett, despite the benefits of introducing such systems, many companies are not doing so purely because they are unaware that the technology exists.

For organisations that have integrated financial business management software, it is important to utilise its capacity fully or else they may find it takes longer to get a return on their investment, he added.

Accountants Media Group recently reported advice given by US-based boutique firm Shwiff, Levy & Polo that small and medium-sized enterprises should use accountancy software to boost their performance.
