State-of-the-art accounting software could be on the minds of many financial firms in Singapore, after they were highlighted as key to the country's success.

The Straits Times has revealed that accounting firms are likely to be among the most crucial in helping the nation to remain at the forefront of the world's financial services sector.

Deputy prime minister Teo Chee Hean made the claim this week, suggesting accounting companies will help businesses in other areas to grow.

"We want Singapore to be a global accountancy hub that offers high-value-added professional accountancy services, that is a home for global accountancy organisations and serves as a thought and practice leader," the politician stated.

Using the very latest accounting software could be one way for organisations to stay one step ahead of their rivals

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills recently said that it will lower the number of regulations and practices UK accounting firms must adhere to when auditing.
