Businesses in the UK have been advised that accounting software is a shrewd investment, no matter what their size.

Randolph Johnston, executive vice-president at technology education firm K2e.com, said the majority of companies in the country have automated their accounting – a trend seen in much of the developed world.

But where there was once a fear that such solutions were suited only to large businesses, now there is confidence that accounting software works for every enterprise.

"Small to medium enterprises are finding new options that have developed over the last ten years, such as SAP Business ByDesign, that can support light manufacturing and distribution operations on a global basis," explained Mr Johnston.

There is also a wide range in terms of price in the market, so no company should feel it is being priced out of adopting accounting software.

SAP Business ByDesign was recently implemented by its first customer since release, IT firm CompriseIT.
