A local authority in Wales has been able to save both time and money after investing in a new accounting software solution.
Denbighshire County Council is set to roll out its new finance software solution in May 2011 after a successful pilot programme that began in July 2010, reports Guardian Government Computing.
The software was bought in order to refine the process of its budget planning, reporting, monitoring and forecasting, allowing the council to eliminate the need for manually noting financial data in individual spreadsheets.
Rhys Lloyd Jones, senior management accountant for financial systems at the organisation, stated that by removing this restrictive system, it will be able to save time, as well as improving the accuracy of its salary cost estimates.
He added that he believes the accounting software will "more than pay for itself" within a year.
Last month, accountancy expert and author Karla Dennis told Entrepreneur magazine that accounting software can help business owners to avoid making basic errors on important documents such as tax forms.
