An ERP system ‘can effectively coordinate supply and demand’

Companies that implement an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system will be able to coordinate its supply and demand effectively, it has been suggested.

Thomas Tan, director of solution marketing at SAP - which provides ERP systems including SAP Business One for small and medium-sized enterprises - stated in an article for Industry Week that such a platform can provide the core infrastructure to manage all business processes.

The industry figure noted that while an ERP application must be chosen to ensure a firm’s immediate requirements are satisfied, customers should make sure the software will be able to grow if the company chooses to expand its operations.

Mr Tan added an ERP system is a "valuable business planning and management tool".

Georgina Swan, reporting for CIO, recently suggested an ERP platform will enable an organisation to expand as the increased mobility it provides will allow them to escalate to multiple server offerings in the future.
