Companies that benefit from the use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software will increasingly demand analytics technology over the years to come.

Steve Lucas, general manager of business analytics at SAP, writing a piece for Forbes, has spoken of the pressures being put on business leaders.

He noted that the amount of data is doubling every year, with devices, machines and social portals all containing vast quantities of information.

As such, it is becoming more important to have solutions in place that are able to access, analyse and share these details when required.

"Most companies use business analytics solutions to create reports, queries and dashboards on a variety of data sources, ranging from SAP ERP to generic databases," Mr Lucas stated.

Alan Aldridge, executive director at the Energy Services and Technology Association, recently spoke of the need to go green in modern business – something that the adoption of SAP ERP software can help to achieve.
