Aviva to improve productivity with new outsourced IT deal

Category: Support & Managed Services

Global insurance provider Aviva has signed a new outsourced IT agreement that is expected to deliver a range of business benefits over the next decade.

The firm has agreed a nine-year messaging contract that will see managed services provider HP migrate Aviva's corporate messaging environment, which includes around 300,000 user mailboxes, to an external site.

This will allow Aviva to pursue its goal of unifying its communications platform across all of its worldwide regions, thereby helping to improve collaboration and efficiency.

It represents a new extension of a global outsourced IT agreement originally signed by the company in February 2009.

Malcolm Simpkin, chief information officer of Aviva UK's general insurance division, said: "This new messaging and collaboration environment brings new functionality and will help increase employee productivity as well as reduce our cost of ownership."

Earlier this month, Birmingham City Council announced that it has made a further investment in outsourced IT that will help it to save £135 million up to 2021.
