Benefits of home working ‘becoming more widely recognised’

7th March

Category: Workforce Mobility

UK employers have become more aware of the extensive business benefits of utilising home working in recent years.

This is the view of the Telework Association, which stated that the erroneous perception that flexible working only benefits parents and female workers is starting to be dismissed.

Shirley Borrett, development director at the organisation, stated that whereas in the past many smaller firms thought of home working as a "burden", they now realise it can improve productivity and free up space within the office.

She also noted that staff who utilise remote access technology to work from home are more likely to be loyal, resulting in a lower turnover of workforce.

Ms Borrett added: "More recently, I think governments have started to recognise these other benefits."

This comes after Swinton Home Insurance published a study last week revealing that 22 percent of UK residents believe home working would be an "ideal situation" for them.
