Companies contemplating the prospect of outsourced IT in order to complete their payroll tasks have been advised to go ahead and invest in the practice.

Martyn Hart, chairman of the National Outsourcing Association, explained issues such as payroll can be extremely time consuming and require a large amount of intensive labour.

By employing an outsourced IT specialist to deal with financial matters such as this, companies do not have to worry about adhering to laws and regulations.

They can also avoid paying for an in-house specialist to look at payroll, who will often require plenty of expensive technology to do so.

Mr Hart concluded: "The key benefits of outsourcing payroll are that [it] is more cost effective and allows companies to concentrate fully on their core business activities."

Analyst firm Ovum recently predicted that outsourced IT will significantly grow in popularity in the future among those in the utilities sector.
