SAP's Business One solution is one of the most admired pieces of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software on the market.

It can help companies to drive down their costs, improve efficiency and provide accounting, manufacturing and telesales functionality.

Martin Lewis, managing director of heating and air conditioning specialist Beta Group, told Computing.co.uk that his firm deployed the system recently.

He noted that while the technology undoubtedly has many benefits, his firm was too small to run it at its maximum.

It was suggested by Mr Lewis that larger companies, with their own in-house IT support teams, will be able to iron out any problems much quicker than a small organisation can and, subsequently, will enjoy the best results from SAP Business One.

The expert described the ERP software as a "complex system" that must be adopted in the right environment if it is to have the greatest impact.

Scott Koegler, author of Multisite Systems Integration and a former chief information officer, recently told Internet Evolution that he believes smaller firms should pool together their ERP software in order to make it more affordable to run and enjoy superior results.
