Enterprises resource planning (ERP) platforms should be introduced in conjunction with end-user training to maximise efficiency levels.
That is the opinion of Sue Farrow, business systems training manager at Xerox, who said that proper preparation of personnel could mean the difference between an ERP project succeeding or failing, ComputerWeekly reports.
"Well-trained people will always be able to do their job more efficiently," she remarked, adding that educating employees can help the implementation of an ERP system, such as SAP Business One, go much more smoothly.
According to Ms Farrow, when her company installed SAP technology to streamline its functions it required all of its workers to undertake a course to ensure they were prepared for the change.
"This meant 80 per cent of end-users had to complete the basic training programme before going live," she added.
IT World Canada recently reported comments made by Warren Wilson of Ovum Summit that enterprises should always address their ERP system needs before carrying out an installation.
