Centrica to benefit from new managed services partnership

Category: Support & Managed Services

Leading energy company Centrica is to improve the efficiency of its business processes via a major new managed services agreement.

The organisation, which operates the British Gas brand in the UK, has agreed a deal with Fujitsu that will see 25,000 members of its workforce across Britain gain access to outsourced IT services.

This will involve the remote management of desktop, email and instant messaging systems, providing Centrica with a flexible and scalable IT infrastructure that can be adapted to meet its business requirements.

Among the benefits of the new setup are its improved reliability and reduced carbon impact, while it will also make it easier to incorporate virtual clients and mobile devices into operations.

David Bickerton, Centrica's chief information officer, said: "As Centrica grows both organically and through acquisition, the IT capabilities and support we provide our people in doing their jobs is critical."

This comes after the energy giant agreed a separate outsourced IT deal with HP earlier this year that is intended to help cut costs, improve the speed of operations and minimise environmental impact.
