IT support services are apparently at the forefront of chief information officers' (CIOs) plans for the future.
A recent survey by Bloomberg, in which more than 100 CIOs were polled, revealed that 55 per cent plan to shift more of their budget spend towards managed services.
Only 33 per cent of those surveyed said they would not put more investment into outsourced IT, while 12 per cent said they were not yet sure.
The majority of the CIOs polled said they were keen to embrace technological innovations which would allow them to process their data more quickly and cheaply.
Nearly eight in ten (76 per cent) of the CIOs said they will be spending more on IT over the next 12 months.
David Ellis, partner at OMC Partners, recently suggested that transition management was a key thing for firms to bear in mind when outsourcing their IT services.
He said firms need to "define the control points" they are most comfortable with when moving to managed services.
