A new virtualisation product from Citrix will boost companies’ abilities to access their applications safely and efficiently, the organisation has claimed.

According to the software provider, Citrix Access Gateway VPX will accelerate security elements for virtual desktops and is to offer a streamlined, easy-to-use package for users.

Troy Trenchard, vice-president and general manager of the security and acceleration product group at Citrix, said the product will be used in conjunction with another new release - Branch Repeater VPX - to provide customers with the best all-round service.

He remarked: "We are bringing together the company’s expertise in both networking and server/desktop virtualisation to deliver the industry’s only complete end-to-end application networking virtualisation solution."

Citrix added that the VPX solutions will provide on-demand provisioning, lower hardware costs and a flexible pricing model.

The company recently announced that it will be partnering with Novell to increase the efficiency of its Citrix XenServer platform.
