Citrix announces new Microsoft Hyper-V support

Citrix has revealed that is making available a new version of its Essentials product to offer Microsoft Hyper-V customers more disaster recovery support.

Entitled Citrix Essentials 5.5, the platform is to now include the software provider’s StorageLink program, which is designed to make end-to-end business continuity affordable, easy to deploy and accessible.

General manager of system centre marketing of Microsoft’s servers and tools business Garth Fort said that its customers are looking for recovery solutions that are quick and cost-effective.

He remarked: "We’re working with Citrix to deliver a configurable and integrated solution that removes the complexity associated with competitive solutions."

The technology will allow users to set up, test and manage their disaster recovery services "using a set of intuitive operations" through a single unit.

Mike Neil, general manager of virtualisation strategy at Microsoft, has described Citrix Essentials as a "powerful extension" that drives adoption of the Hyper-V application.ADNFCR-2732-ID-19515939-ADNFCR
