Citrix software can enable people to turn their iPads into a full virtualised desktop, it has been suggested.

PCMag noted the change can be achieved by companies that run Citrix XenDesktop or XenApp platforms.

The publication observed the free Citrix receiver for iPad product can provide one-touch, secure access to corporate desktops, 3D, complex database and Windows applications.

Fort those who are looking to bolster the mathematic and accounting side of operations, the free Roambi offering includes an iPad app that "provides a graphically rich way to access, store, manage and refresh mission-critical business data".

It does so by turning enterprise data, such as Excel spreadsheets, into interactive visualisations, the source explained.

Citrix XenDesktop was recently given the Breakthrough Product award at the Best of Tech-Ed 2010 programme, which was organised by Penton Media’s Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine and recognised innovation in companies that provide software solutions.
