Flexible working practices suit modern lifestyles, it has been claimed.
Andrew Millard, director of marketing at eCommerce for Citrix Online, observed work goals have altered from previous eight-hour day templates and now revolve around effectively delivering tasks at hand.
The industry figure noted employee goals are now “being aligned in [a] way where rather than having to clock in or out or be at your desk, you have a series of tasks you need to complete”.
He explained location is often irrelevant as all that matters is completing the job at hand - making flexible working, which is achievable through technology such as Citrix Access Gateway, all the more important.
Employees no longer need to be physically positioned in the office as they can collaborate online, Mr Millard added.
According to a recent report from Reed Specialist Recruitment, office staff are rejecting the nine-to-five culture in favour of a dependence of technologies such as email - with 48 per cent claiming they cannot live without the messaging service.
