Home working is becoming an increasingly attractive option for many workers, according to a recent survey by Citrix.
The study conducted by the software firm revealed that 87 per cent of people work outside of their office, with more than half (52 per cent) saying they work remotely one or two days a week.
Some 77 per cent of respondents stated that they were "much more" productive when working outside of the office, while 21 per cent were "just as" productive.
Only two per cent of people claimed that they did not get as much done when working from home compared to time spent in the office.
Nearly nine out of ten (87 per cent) or respondents said they travelled with laptops, while 23 per cent now use tablets as well.
This comes after David Richardson, Highlands and Islands manager at the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, told the Inverness Courier last month that businesses should reconsider contingency plans for severe weather conditions, including setting up home working schemes and tele-conferencing strategies.
