Citrix ‘is well placed’ in the virtualisation market

Citrix Systems is in a strong position to continue its growth in the virtualisation field, it has been suggested.

Writing for Ovum, Richard Edwards has described how the company, which produces software such as XenServer, is benefitting from the current popularity of virtual technology.

The industry expert said the enterprise is "particularly well placed" to further expand "as IT managers consider desktop deployment options".

Mr Edwards noted Citrix was founded over 20 years ago and now has a turnover of $1.6 billion (£1.08 billion), along with a market capitalisation of $8 billion (£5.4 billion).

He cited the company’s chief executive officer Mark Templeton, who recently presented to sector analysts the firm’s portfolio of software and its many aspects of virtual computing.

Citrix XenServer has been positioned by Gartner in the Visionaries Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for x86 Server Virtualisation Infrastructure, which is an evaluation based on a provider’s vision and its ability to successfully execute such plans.
