Home working could become a far more common practice after Citrix Systems said it is keen to make taking up this option much easier.
The technology specialist this week stated that it is passionate about simplifying the process of moving away from traditional PCs to more flexible alternatives.
Mark Templeton, Citrix's chief executive and president, said this would "empower" employees that use its products to "work and play from anywhere".
He was speaking after the company published favourable financial and strategic results for the second quarter of 2011, which indicated a surge in net income and revenues year-on-year.
"Demand for our virtualisation, networking and cloud solutions continues to be strong across the board," Mr Templeton commented.
He added that the level of excitement about its products from customers has "never been higher".
Demand for Citrix XenApp technology and other options could be set to rise further, as Ian Osborne of Intellect recently noted harsh winter weather and transport disruption in the last year has made more people aware of the advantages of home working.
