Desktop virtualisation hints and tips will only be a click away for IT solutions managers, after leading manufacturer Citrix released an iPad app to tackle the subject.

The brand's GoToManage tool can be downloaded for free from Apple's App Store and provides troubleshooting services and technical information.

Citrix has described it as a simple and powerful app that will be of great assistance to IT bosses as they seek to make the most of their desktop virtualisation software.

"With Citrix GoToManage for iPad, our IT customers can work from anywhere while still providing comprehensive support and troubleshooting as if they never left the office," said Elizabeth Cholawsky, general manager and vice-president of IT Services for Citrix's Online Services Division.

The app will allow users to control computers via Wi-Fi connections as if they are sitting in front of them.

Citrix recently completed the acquisition of RingCube, a company that specialises in personalising the desktop virtualisation technology of its customers.
