The alliance in the virtualisation environment between Citrix and Microsoft is very beneficial to the pair’s customers, it has been claimed.

Sumit Dhawan, vice-president of marketing for the Citrix XenDesktop product, noted the partnership brings deep expertise to the market.

The specialist continued: "As a result, we have an industry-leading solution that delivers the best experience for end-users and the best management for IT - all built upon a trusted Microsoft platform."

Citrix can boast 20 years experience in delivering desktops and applications to consumers, while Microsoft has a long history of pushing forward with innovation, Mr Dhawan explained.

He added this combined experience brings to users a knowledge base that no other vendors in the marketplace can currently offer.

John Humphreys, from Citrix’s Datacenter and Cloud Division, recently observed the company’s XenDesktop and XenServer platforms enable firms to utilise more centralised, agile and secure desktop environments while also reducing management overhead.
