Virtual software provider Citrix has announced it is pleased with its financial results for the second-quarter of 2010.

The firm - which offers products such as Citrix Xendesktop - revealed it achieved a revenue of $458 million (£292 million) in this period, which represented a growth of 17 per cent compared with the $393 million (£251 million) recorded at the same time in 2009.

Moreover, its net income came in at $48 million (£31 million) - a leap from the £43 million (£27 million) reported last year.

Mark Templeton, president and chief executive officer for Citrix, said he was "very pleased" with the results and claimed indications for the second half of 2010 are solid.

"We are seeing excellent vibrancy in the channel, higher levels of strategic engagement with our customers and really good pipeline growth," he added.

Bruce Hoard, writing recently for Virtualization Review, claimed the partnership of Citrix and Microsoft helps deliver a flexible and reliable virtualisation experience.
