Citrix virtualisation ‘an ongoing success’

The growth of Citrix Systems has been aided by the success of its virtualisation software, it has been suggested.

Investor’s Business Daily reporter J Bonasia noted the technology, such as Citrix XenDesktop, has helped the company accelerate in the last decade.

The reporter observed the organisation now has in excess of 230,000 customers and its applications enable employees’ desktop PCs to be managed on the same server.

Since June 2009, the enterprise’s stock has risen by 53 per cent, the specialist commented.

And the writer added such an approach enables increased hardware capacity and limits energy use.

Describing how virtualisation works, Mark Templeton, chief executive officer at Citrix Systems, stated: "It injects flexibility into distributed computing, so that the various parts are no longer hard-coded."

The Co-operative Group recently cited the green credentials of Citrix as one of the main reasons it opted for the provider’s XenDesktop model when moving into virtualisation.
