Citrix XenApp 6 provides users with the latest developments in application processes for physical and virtual desktops, it has been claimed.

The company stated that "major enhancements" have been made to the software, which will be available for download from March 24th, to allow simplified central management, seamless integration with other platforms and increased scalability.

Group vice-president and general manager of the XenApp product group at Citrix Bill Burley said the technology "delivers an entirely new level of IT simplification".

"Customers can now deliver apps as an on-demand service to any user in any location at a fraction of the cost," he remarked.

According to Citrix, XenApp 6 is particularly compatible with Microsoft technologies such as App-V and Windows Server 2008 R2.

It allows individuals to access their applications from a range of devices, including PCs, Macs and laptops, the enterprise added.

Citrix recently announced the availability of its Branch Repeater VPX and Access Gateway VPX software, which are geared towards accelerating virtualisation functions and improving security operations.
