Citrix XenDesktop and XenServer meet security standards

3rd September

Category: Virtualisation

A group of Citrix products has become the first complete virtualisation solution to comply with common security standards implemented by many of the world's biggest companies and government organisations.

Citrix XenServer, Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix XenApp have all been certified to meet Common Criteria EAL 2, an international set of guidelines used to evaluate the features of IT security products.

They are used by numerous high-profile bodies - including the US Department of Defense - and area vice-president at Citrix Tom Simmons said the move demonstrates the company's commitment to providing "the kind of secure virtual computing solutions that our customers demand".

"With these certifications, Citrix is now the first and only company to have a complete, end-to-end virtualisation solution," he added.

Last month, David Carr said in an article for Forbes Citrix's virtualisation technology is now widely used by chief information officers, as the company has been offering important services for around 15 years.
