Citrix XenDesktop could be a good choice for those companies looking to move into virtualisation and wanting to become more environmentally-friendly in their business operations, it has been suggested.
The Co-operative Group has revealed it selected the platform partly because of its green credentials, computing.co.uk reports.
In an exclusive interview with the website, Dave Murrell, head of servers, storage and desktops at the firm, noted: "The green angle was important, plus the human resources guys were pushing flexible working policies quite hard."
The industry figure added the organisation was always looking to venture into desktop virtualisation and explained there is "a big business care" in regards to streamlined support.
Around 3,000 machines and laptops at the Co-operative Group’s new Manchester headquarters are to run desktop virtualisation as part of the process.
It was recently revealed the deployment is expected to save the enterprise in excess of £1 million a year.
