Citrix XenDesktop ‘saves company hundreds of thousands’

9th June

Category: Virtualisation

The deployment of Citrix XenDesktop is expected to save a company hundreds of thousands of dollars over its next few budget cycles, it has been predicted.

Citrix Systems has announced the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) has deployed Citrix XenDesktop and integrated application delivery with Citrix XenApp to create virtualised desktops on-demand to staff across the US in remote office locations.

ADF&G now expects to save around $250,000 (£173,000) throughout the next couple of years as cash that used to be spent on hardware refreshes can now be utilised in other projects.

Corey Kos, infrastructure manager at ADF&G, said: "The ability to manage the department’s desktops and applications centrally in the datacentre is a tremendous time-saving for our IT staff."

Last month, Citrix XenDesktop 4 was named the winner of the virtualisation category at the 2010 Best of Interop Awards, after its ability to simplify desktop computing for IT was recognised at the ceremony.
