Virtual software provider Citrix Systems has received an award for its XenDesktop 4 platform.
It has been given the Breakthrough Product accolade at the Best of Tech-Ed 2010 programme by Penton Media’s Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine.
The achievement is the top prize decided by the editors for the most innovative software in all of the award categories.
According to the judges, Citrix XenDesktop 4 came out on top because: "Citrix is providing easy and powerful virtual desktops and there’s a good chance that will be the future of IT."
The prize-givers reviewed 298 products and services that had been entered into the contest.
They then selected 46 finalists that were interviewed at a conference in New Orleans on June 9th, before choosing the victor based on strategic importance to the market and exceptional value to customers.
It was recently revealed the Alaska Department of Fish and Game expects to save hundreds of thousands of dollars over its next few budget cycles after deploying the Citrix XenDesktop model.
