Citrix XenServer has been awarded for its successes in the field of virtualisation.
The software has been granted the honour of being positioned by Gartner in the Visionaries Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for x86 Server Virtualisation Infrastructure, which is an evaluation based on completeness of vision and ability to execute.
N Louis Shipley, group vice-president and general manager of XenServer Product Group, Citrix, said the company has gained "tremendous traction" over the last 12 months.
The industry figure noted the enterprise’s popular free edition alone prompted more than 45,000 business data centres worldwide to activate the product for production.
He added: "The richness and value of the XenServer portfolio is increasingly driving very demanding and technically savvy organisations to standardise on XenServer."
Citrix Systems recently announced its new XenServer 5.6 version is now available, which includes new features across the entire product line and aims to create and manage a virtual infrastructure at a more affordable price than competitors.
