The Citrix XenServer platform looks set to benefit from the company's recent acquisition of virtualisation management tools firm VMLogix.

According to a recent announcement by Citrix, it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the company, which was founded in 2004 and has offices in Palo Alto, California, Bangalore, India and Toronto, Canada.

The firm revealed the purchase of VMLogix will add an "intuitive, self-service interface" to its XenServer virtualisation platform, which is part of the OpenCloud framework and will allow users to manage their computing resources in a cloud environment.

In addition, the move will allow for "key" lifecycle management capabilities to be added to the OpenCloud platform.

Klaus Oestermann, group vice-president and general manager of networking and cloud product group at Citrix, commented: "With the expanded capabilities of the OpenCloud platform for lifecycle management, cloud interoperability and cloud networking, we are further delivering on our core belief to provide true choice for our customers."
