An expert has spoken of the take-up of accounting software among British businesses, noting that there is unlikely to be a medium or large-sized enterprise that has yet to adopt it.
Terry Forsey, a software sales and marketing coach, explained that automating accounting procedures is an extremely popular option.
However, he suggested it has yet to truly take off with smaller businesses, including micro-firms.
One opportunity in the market in the immediate future is the move towards cloud computing, which could be seized by both providers and companies looking to stay ahead of the competition.
Commenting on the benefits of this, Mr Forsey stated: "If you're the owner of a business, you can be on a bus, on a train, at home - and you can still be accessing your accounting systems."
When choosing accounting software, bosses could look to SAP to provide their solutions after the firm was named as the top manufacturer by Interactive Data Corporation in its Worldwide Financial Accounting Applications 2010 Vendor Share report.
