Cloud computing ‘can benefit users of unified storage’

Category: Virtualisation

Cloud computing has been highlighted as a technology that can help users of unified storage platforms to grow.

Greg Schulz, founder of research and content generation firm StorageIO.com and author of Cloud and Virtual Data Storage Networking, explained that adding cloud computing to a set-up that is based on a single system will simplify connectivity to it.

"What that means is that unified storage will grow as a result of cloud, converged, dynamic, virtual and traditional usage - as it is very complementary to those scenarios," he stated.

Mr Schulz added that flexibility is the "big benefit" of both solutions and that this is a key characteristic of both the cloud and virtualised platforms, making them ideal for use alongside unified storage.

One part of the world in which cloud computing is sure to grow over the coming months and years is India, with research body Gartner this week suggesting it is an urgent and compelling force there.
