Business leaders have been promised that investing in cloud computing solutions will open doors to a "long list" of benefits.

PA Consulting Group and The National Computing Centre have teamed up to deliver a brand new guide for companies that are thinking of adopting the technology.

They have promised to be fair and detail the numerous advantages and potential difficulties.

Alastair McAulay, IT expert at PA Consulting Group, explained the cloud is capable of "delivering a long list of significant benefits".

"These include cost savings, scalability, any time anywhere, any device availability and resilience," he noted.

But the expert said it is not as simple as investing in the technology and realising the plus points immediately, as switching to the cloud takes time and thorough planning.

"Businesses cannot just muddle through and hope for the best," Mr McAulay explained.

A recent study by Spiceworks showed that 46 per cent of small firms are now using cloud computing.
