Cloud computing ‘is great for the environment’

22nd September

Category: Virtualisation

Companies thinking of adopting cloud computing technology have been advised that they will be doing their bit for the environment if they do so.

New research from the Carbon Disclosure Project, reported by IBTimes, found that using the solution is a guaranteed way to slash carbon emissions.

Its report – entitled Cloud Computing: The IT Solution for the 21st Century – concluded that firms in the US alone could cut back 85.7 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide output.

Cloud computing is said to be an ideal way to make their energy last longer, saving money and enhancing the efficiency of the business.

The resource savings made by switching to the cloud is the equivalent of not using 200 million barrels of oil.

New findings from K2 Advisory have recently showed how cloud computing is currently revolutionising the way the outsourcing of IT works, thanks mainly to the increased flexibility it offers companies.
