In a world where many industries are declining and negatively affected by economic struggles, it is worth noting that cloud computing continues to rise.

A study by cloud recruitment firm Resource on Demand (ROD) has found that the expansion of the technology is so rapid that firms are having to react at a blistering pace.

It noted that recruitment in this area has risen by 52.9 per cent in the last year alone, while the number of new roles being advertised has more than doubled.

"The buoyancy of the cloud ecosystem shows no sign of letting up and is an encouraging sign for the UK economy," declared ROD's oeprations director Theresa Durrant.

She added that the "tech bubble" has been one of the key drivers of the industry and predicted that the growth being reported in cloud computing could be sustainable in the long term.

Recent research by independent management consultancy Xantus, reported by ComputerWeekly.com, showed that while 23 per cent of chief information officers are using cloud computing, another 53 per cent plan to adopt it in the next year.
