More companies will invest in cloud computing solutions and existing users will pay out for upgrades over the remainder of the decade, if the latest statistics on the market are to be believed.

The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement (IDGA) has commented on the industry's performance less than a week before its flagship 3rd Annual Cloud Computing for DoD & Government conference.

It quoted figures revealed by Market Research Media, which suggested the cloud sector will expand by 6.7 per cent by 2020.

Reasons for this likely growth are plentiful if the words of Keith Bates, author of a piece for Business Cloud 9, are accurate. He recently said the cloud offers the chance to make gains in terms of costs, efficiency and technology.

IDGA noted there has never been a greater need than there is right now for a single event to provide an opportunity for cloud leaders to come together and discuss the future.
