Businesses have been advised to take advantage of cloud computing platforms and applications wherever possible.
Phil Wainewright, vice-chairman at Eurocloud, explained there are numerous ways to use the technology in order to drive down expenditure.
He noted that managed hosting systems are among the most favourable for firms, but said the potential of the technology does not end there.
"It's not just managed hosting, you're getting a complete application that is a complete service in the cloud," Mr Wainewright stated.
He went on to suggest that investing in this type of system is a way to get "the whole application delivered and running", rather than having the items in place but still relying on an outsider to manage it.
A study by Ernst & Young that was released this week identified cloud computing as the number one priority for businesses across the country over the next 12 months, as the case for adopting it is now "compelling".
