Cloud computing ‘to drive banking for financial firms’

1st November

Category: Virtualisation

Financial services providers will increasingly turn to cloud computing over the coming years and months in order to power their banking operations.

New research by independent analyst body Gartner has found that there is a "rapid shift" occurring within the industry.

The issue is set to be discussed at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2011, which is due to be held from November 7th to 10th in Barcelona.

"Cloud banking should be innovative, dedicated to this industry and transformative," said Peter Redshaw, managing vice-president at Gartner.

He went on to note that while take-up of cloud banking by financial services businesses has been limited to date, it is "set to go mainstream".

The expert added that cloud computing can allow firms to try completely new and innovative banking solutions and enjoy the positive results.

Mrs Green – the founder of Littlegreenblog.com, using a pseudonym – recently said that the government is aiming to become more eco-friendly and one technology it can be expected to use is cloud computing.
