Cloud computing users ‘increasingly turning to security solutions’

Category: Virtualisation

Cloud computing is a technology that has taken off in the UK, with many companies employing it in their day-to-day operations.

However, it may only be now that the majority are realising just how important it is to run security software alongside the virtual computing technique.

John Dunn, security editor at news, blogs and reviews site Techworld, said security is one of the key trends in the cloud market at the moment.

"The security layer the companies have, the security software and products they buy and the infrastructure they run means there is a real move to actually buy that as a service," the expert explained.

Deploying protective technology means the advantages of cloud computing can be enjoyed without the threat of cyber crime. Mr Dunn noted banks as one example of an organisation that can benefit from the use of the cloud and associated security.

Suffolk County Council was recently revealed by the Guardian to be a new user of cloud software and it has enjoyed a reduction in costs since it deployed the technology.
