Cloud computing users ‘must decide between public, private and hybrid’

Companies that run cloud computing solutions have been advised they must weigh up the advantages of private, hybrid and public options.

John Dunn, security editor of TechWorld, said advancements in the sector are being made and these are moving the cloud away from fixed products, brands and platforms.

Instead, he noted, users are likely to end up with a "more neutral space" in which they can successfully implement numerous pieces of software and operate them efficiently.

"You've got private clouds, public clouds and hybrid clouds and you've got the different bits of technology that make that infrastructure possible," Mr Dunn stated.

The expert went on to suggest the private cloud is "easy" to use, while the public alternative can be a little "tricky" and the hybrid solution is somewhere between the two.

According to a recent report by the Guardian, the use of cloud computing provides firms with a strong base from which to look forwards to a bright future.
