Cloud computing is a solution that firms that have operations around the world should consider, in the opinion of one expert.

Phil Wainewright, vice-president of EuroCloud, explained the technology is the obvious answer for those with bases in various nations.

He suggested it is a "particularly common" choice as it helps different headquarters come together to work towards the same goal.

"They are very distributed and because everyone can access the application easily over the internet through the cloud, it makes it easier to keep everyone on the same page," Mr Wainewright stated.

He went on to claim that another key benefit of using cloud computing is that providers are "really incentivised" to maintain the platform well and keep it at the head of the development market.

Research firm Gartner recently predicted that more than half of the Global 1000 companies will be using cloud computing by the end of 2016.
