An increasing number of employers are starting to see flexible working as a favourable working process.

Sarah Stewart, project director in the North East of England for the Work Wise campaign, said the advantages of remote access employment - which can be achieved via software such as Citrix Access gateway - are being reaped by companies, nebusiness.co.uk reports.

The industry expert commented: "More and more employers are starting to recognise the benefits of adopting smarter working practices such as flexible hours."

Productivity can be boosted and costs reduced - such as accommodation fees - through implementation of the option, she explained.

As well as proving popular among bosses, remote access can also enable a healthier work-life balance for parents and reduce energy consumption, Ms Stewart observed.

Mark Cahill, managing director of Manpower UK, recently claimed firms will continue with the flexible working approach they utilised during the recession because of the financial savings the method can bring.
