Category: SAP Business OneEnterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP Business One, work better when they are fed structured data, it has been claimed.
According to an article on ERP Software at Your Service, critical business information is often stored in an unstructured format, which can make ERP platforms less efficient.
It noted: "Do not allow data to get into an unstructured format. Have employees enter timesheets and expense reports directly into the accounting system using web-forms."
According to the information provider, it is important that once data is keyed into the system, the original document is directly linked to the structured transaction.
If this is being done from paper it will need to be scanned first, it added, noting that organisations will benefit from better auditing and reduced instances of error.
Dale Vile, writing for the Register earlier this month, noted that ERP platforms, when utilised properly, can allow firms to streamline their administration functions and boost performance.
