Companies ‘will continue’ with flexible working

Flexible working will continue to be utilised by companies despite the nation recovering from an economic downturn, it has been suggested.

Mark Cahill, managing director of Manpower UK, has claimed that firms will want to maintain their recession work practices for the numerous benefits they bring, the Financial Times reports.

Remote access employment, which can be made possible through software such as Citrix XenApp, is part of the new labour market flexibility that employers are keen to see maintained, the industry expert said.

"Flexible engagement has worked fantastically well, so has rewarding output rather than attendance," he explained.

Mr Cahill added that enterprises will be reluctant to return to pre-recession working arrangements once the economy is fully back on its feet.

The government announced last month that flexible working should be higher on the agenda for employers as the practice can benefit parents who are required to stay at home and look after their children.
