A business has signed a deal with SAP to use its enterprise resource planning (ERP) software – possibly including Business One – in a bid to increase its efficiency.
Mechel is to implement SAP technology over a period of time in its mining, steel and sales divisions.
As well as this, ERP software is to be rolled out across all of the company's sales departments – a process that should be completed within 18 months, Zacks.com reported.
Mechel has been gearing up for the adoption of ERP software for some time, as it is said to have optimised its financial systems as part of a consolidation programme launched in 2007.
The organisation is a large producer of coal and steel and has access to Russia's largest reserve of the former.
Eric Duffaut, president of global ecosystem and channels at SAP, recently said that the technology manufacturer's solutions are perfect for small businesses, with about 80 per cent of its business coming from minor firms.
