DataCore has issued an update for the free trial version of its SANmelody software.
The offering, which may be of interest to companies that are searching for storage virtualisation solutions, includes improvements to performance and migration tools, as well as the ability to do fast backups and thin provisioning.
It can be used by firms operating on Windows, Mac or Linux-based systems and is also compatible with a number of virtual server and desktop offerings, including those provided by Microsoft and VMware.
Users can pool up to one terabyte of disk space with the evaluation version of the software, as well as employ 'mega-caching' to speed up application performance and utilise the Snapshots feature to create fast disk-to-disk backups and clone volumes instantly.
The change comes after DataCore issued an update for its SANmelody software last month.
Features available in version 3.0 include the ability to prioritise the resynchronisation of mirrored disks after an unplanned outage, in order to ensure critical data is restored first.
