DataCore SANmelody ‘allows hardware flexibility’

2nd December

Category: Virtualisation

DataCore's SANmelody storage solutions are able to maximise the efficiency of virtualised environments and allow for flexibility in hardware choices, it has been claimed.

IT director at Barren County Schools Steve Gumm said that when the US-based organisation implemented the application it enabled it to enhance its technological capabilities.

"The biggest benefit for us was realising a virtualised data infrastructure," he remarked, adding: "We now have a front-end piece whereby we can deploy any hardware behind it that we want."

According to DataCore, Barren County Schools introduced both VMwarevSphere 4 and SANmelody, allowing the institution to go from running 30 physical servers to just four.

These remaining servers now run 30 virtual machines and Mr Gumm noted that SANmelody has facilitated the repurposing of old equipment.

Last month, Jack Weisberg - IT director at law firm McNamee, Lochner, Titus & Williams - echoed these views, stating that DataCore SANmelody has prevented the enterprise from being tied down to a particular platform.ADNFCR-2732-ID-19490004-ADNFCR
