Desktop virtualisation and cloud computing ‘are a natural fit’

6th September

Category: Virtualisation

Cloud computing and desktop virtualisation goes hand-in-hand, one expert has suggested following the recent VMworld conference.

Writing for CIO, Bernard Golden explained how he was struck by the vast number of desktop-hosting products he saw on display at the event, which proved to him the logic of remote desktop capability is "inescapable".

He noted "managing end-point desktops is such a pain and so labour-intensive that I'm surprised the entire technology world hasn't risen up" and requested this facility.

In addition, the specialist went on to comment on how cloud computing appears to be "here to stay".

Mr Golden observed the gathering highlighted the belief it "represents the next platform shift in computing".

VMworld was held from August 30th to September 2nd at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, US, attracting more than 17,000 attendees over the course of the event.

The conference is also set to take place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen from October 12th to 14th.
